Quoi Faire a Paris?

by Andrew McAfee on December 8, 2008

I’m going to present our research on IT’s impact on competition and our ‘Full House’ hypothesis at the WISE conference next weekend, which is being held in Paris, lucky us. I haven’t been to the city in a year and a half, so I thought I’d shamelessly use this post to ask for advice.  What must not be missed in Paris these days?  What should be seen / eaten / drunk / experienced?

I know I’m going to eat at L’Ami Louis (yes, we have a reservation), visit the Musee du Quai Branly, check out L’Eclaireur (less need for me to visit Zara now that we have a couple in Boston), and stay in the Marais. Beyond that, I’m open to suggestions, and eager to hear them. What are the best exhibits up right now (I’m sick that I missed Serra’s sculptures at the Grand Palais )? The coolest places for a late night out? Any good concerts happening Friday, Saturday, or Sunday?  I speak decent French, so there’s no insurmountable language barrier.
Let me know your suggestions, please.  If the place you’re recommending is so cool that the world must not know about it, feel free to email me. And thanks!

Hello

One of the interesting places to be would be at our Boostzone Institute (http://www.boostzone.fr/) as we are holding a conference on E2.0 with Alstom, PWC and MMA, three front-runners in France. Thats’s on Thursday morning, do not know if you will be in Paris then.

We won’t match L’ami Louis for the quality of the breakfast, though …

Andrew,
check out http://mamashelter.com/ which is being recommended as a place to stay… It’s right next to Père Lachaise. Might be fun on a next visit…
Have a wonderful stay!

Bonjour Andrew :)

cordialement

I recommed three exhibitions:

Picasso et ses maîtres at The Grand Palais

Ron Arad – No Discipline at Beaubourg
Hommage to Ettore Sottsass at Beaubourg

Enjoy your stay

For my money, the two places to go in Paris are the Rodin Museum (it epitomizes the sensuality and beauty that Paris represents more broadly) and tea at Mariage Freres (a very civilized place to relax in the late afternoon at a place where tea is sacrament – their primary location is in the Marais). I expect a full report though. :cheese: John Hagel

Ah, just figured out you are probably back by now – perhaps next time.
