This is my first post in my new blog home, and the first using the WordPress platform. I’d like to thank Alistair Morton of Toronto’s PeapodStudios for his excellent work on the redesign, and his patience during a laborious migration process. I’m really happy with how it looks, but would love your feedback – please leave a comment if you have anything to say about the design and layout.
Also, please comment with anything a WordPress newbie should know – tools, resources, tutorials, communities, etc. I am a complete neophyte here. My blogging career to date has consisted almost entirely of typing posts into a text box then hitting ‘Publish,’ and I’m eager to become more proficient. I don’t want to excessively pimp my blog, but I would like to have decent capabilities, analytics, etc. So any advice or pointers would be much appreciated.

The new blog looks good!
About the only two things I’d suggest adding to your blog is one, Google Analytics so you can track what pages are popular, what keywords people are finding you on through Google, etc.

Second, is add Disqus for comments. I much prefer Disqus to regular wordpress comments. It adds many features on top of regular comments such as tracking people’s comments across the internet. You can associate your disqus comments with your blog, homepage, etc. For you as the blogger — it offers built in spam filtering plus other nifty tools for managing and tracking conversations.

I aggree with Kyle: The new blog looks great.
One plugin I would recommend is ShareThis. It allows people to easily add your posts to delicious, etc or share them on Facebook and other social networks.
Perhaps you can have a twitter badge somewhere here so a visitor here can see your twitter feed.

Though this has nothing to do with your current post, I would be interested to know your viewpoint on a new development which stuck me as extremely interesting. This is SalesForce.com’s “Service Cloud” – http://www.salesforce.com/servicecloud/ and http://www.ebizq.net/blogs/connectedweb/2009/01/salesforcecom_connects_the_soc.php for reference. Quoting from the latter, the offering is “Salesforce.com’s new Service Cloud connects into FaceBook so that businesses can plug into the conversations about their products that are taking place there. What’s more, if the advice and information that’s found there could prove useful to other customers elsewhere, it can be fed automatically into the business’s internal customer service knowledgebase, where it can be cleaned up and then republished for others to see. It becomes part of the information store that call center agents consult when they’re taking customer service enquiries over the phone or web, and can be published to a self-help section of the company’s website.” What is your take on this as a new development in the realm of Enterprise 2.0 and what new trends might emerge? Very nice look and feel one aesthetic comment – you should change the website reference and name that appears in the center – it appears “cut off” – content of course is excellent as usual
I also like the new design! I write my Wordpress posts using Windows Live Writer rather than with the web-based editor. I find WLW screws up the HTML less often when I’m rearranging text. When I’m ready, I post the draft to Wordpress.com and do a final review/edit in the Wordpress editor. This should work with hosted blogs like yours too.
The new visual is excellent, really pleasing. One thing I miss though is, well, the search. It would be especially useful now, since the links to old posts seem to be broken.
change your permalink structure to include the post title. This changes your url from http://andrewmcafee.org/blog/?p=543 to something like http://andrewmcafee.org/blog/Im-over-here-now
You'll be amazed at how much more traffic you get from search engines with this simple change

i would refer disqus to you, disqus had been a very big help for many blogger because of its features like networking your comments

i used to work for a fashion company where 1/2 of my day was spent writing on other blogs in the form of fake comments. my boss would come in and say “google emoda and see what comes up on blogs, make sure you combat all the negative ones, just sound like a happy customer”. needless to say it was awful and i eventually quit. the truth is, if you produce a quality product and perform with quality service, you wont need to worry about anyone else.
first of all,there have so many people come from different country,for example,me .i come from China.Not the every body can use English to leave the message ,they even can not read any words,but they can understand something from the pictures ,the original links or somewhere.if they want to know what's you want to tell them know ,they need spend time to check the dictionary .so ,i think it's too hard to leave a English comment here.
and secondly,the frequency you update is too high .we are so excited of that .maybe cause that we forget to comments..:)..
and finally, i feel that everybody will think that NO body will reply the comment that i leave here..and maybe nobody care the comment i leaved .this is not a personal blog ,and it's a public place.it's too serious to discussion some thing like “how do you feel this project?”
and here is not a kind of SNS website (Social Networking Services).
so nobody think that's necessary to comment here..
but .from now on ,i know that ,there still have some one care of the comment which have wealth of information.
am i right?
